Our client:

Model Works craft beautiful digital and physical experiences for architecture. Services include CGIs, Animation, Interactive Experiences and Scale Models as well as LVIA and Verified Photomontages. They have worked on Bankside Yards, Hylo and were heavily involved in the relaunch of Battersea Power Station - one of London’s most recently updated landmarks. You can find out more about them here.

The project:

A flythrough animation for Landsec’s n2 Victoria development in London.
n2 Victoria

A 160,000 sq. ft, 18 storey office building built to a sustainability conscious design with a progressive approach to work and wellbeing (targeting a WELL Gold certification). n2 Victoria is creating a vibrant, connected community in the heart of Victoria and benefits from an outdoor terrace on every floor.

At 2 minutes / 2880 frames and around 45 minutes per frame to render, the animation was challenging to deliver for their own workstations. Edward, CGI Director at Model Works, was looking for cloud rendering support.

With sustainability a key driver for Landsec and an area that Model Works is looking to improve in, heata enabled Model Works to offer Landsec a benefit beyond the creation of the visualisation itself. The team at Landsec loved the positive impact; the reduction in carbon generated rendering the animation, but also the social impact of the free hot water for families in the heata network.

You can find out more about the development and see the flythrough here.

Summary:

It was great to work with a studio that really appreciated the benefit of rendering with heata, and it was great to hear that their client responded so positively to taking this approach. If you’re focused on sustainability, or your clients are, we’d love to discuss how we can help.
